And his use of "Call of the Ktulu" reworked for the commercial is a masterpiece stroke.

Actually, that's Ennio Morricone's "Ecstacy of Gold" from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, in my opinion one of the greatest compositions in the history of film music. Metallica and conductor Michael Kamen used it as an intro to their S&M concert. "Call of the Ktulu"' is the piece that follows right after it.

Oh yes, so right. I did have S&M on mind, hence the mix-up in names. The first time I heard "Ecstacy" was the Metallica version (way before S&M), since it's what they introduce all their concerts with.

And I agree, "Ecstasy of Gold" is one of the best pieces of music ever written for film. Epic.

Ridley Scott's 1984 Redux + CGI (notice the iPod).
I hope this link is right; I don't have Youtube access at work.

That is an excellent excellent ad Shariq, from the mind of one the most visually inventive and imaginative director working today. I just love it.

"There's this whole school of thought that movies are always so great when you're 10 or 12 years old, and the reality of it is, when you're 10 or 12 years old, you've only seen 100 stories. By the time you get to be 25, you've seen 3,000. You've seen every permutation of every dramatic arc. And when somebody takes that and stands it on its head, that can be exciting." David Fincher
